Tour d'Horn- Presented by Barley Browns, July 1, 2018- Men's 1/2
The Tour d’Horn, is stage 5 of the Baker City Cycling Classic 2018, put on by some great sponsors. The 77 rider peloton for the Men’s 1/2 group was a great turnout. The 84 mile race left Baker City and traveled through sagebrush desert, to forest mountain and up the huge climb to Anthony Lake Resorts, 6% to 10% grade. 6603 ft in elevation gain over the course. 7238 ft above sea level at the finish. This was grueling and the faces of the riders showed it throughout the race. Nec and I were limited in our ability to shoot, especially later in the race, due to the narrow roads. After the second feed zone, we only got a couple of chances before heading to the finish to await the riders. Congrats to Team Mercedes, Kai came in 7th, finishing 4th overall. Jeremy 12th on the hill and finished 14th overall. Jamie Yanik of Bob’s Bicycles finished first, a huge feat. Allan Schroeder of Bobs, came over 11th.
Quite a showing for the Boise riders. Quite proud of the local racers and how well they performed. At least three local teams were represented, Team Upcycle, Bob’s Bicycles, and Team Mercedes Benz. Proud of the Team Mercedes and continuing to hold to a high standard.
Thank you team, and riders, for allowing Denise and me to shoot your races. We have a lot in this gallery but always take a lot of the entire peloton when passing and when they are passing us. We also took a few shots of the Women’s peloton at the first feed zone and as the Men’s 1/2 passed them.
