Stage 4 Tour d’Horn - presented by Barley Brown’s - Sunday June 30th
The 4th and final stage of the Baker City Classic was the Tour d'Horn. AS the organizers describe it: "The new Tour d’Horn Road Race will start from Baker High School headed North on Hwy 30 to Route 203 where it will follow a rolling course through Medical Springs, Union and North Powder. From that point it will follow Anthony Lakes Highway to the highest point the BCCC has ever traveled, up to 7238 ft. above sea level. 6603 ft. in elevation gain over the course. It’s an average 6% and peaks at 10% with numerous switchbacks." The race is a long 84 miles.
The race was hard fought and took its toll on riders. However most were in pretty good shape at the end. Team Mercedes had several riders up front a lot, but Team Bob's and Team UpCycle were there as well. An unattached rider, Joshua Nelson took the win. Kai was second overall and finished second in the GC. Jamie Yanik and Allan Schroeder from Team Bob's were in the top ten for teh race and 3rd and 4th in the GC.. We are quite proud of all the riders and always proud of Team Mercedes.
There are some photos of the Women's race throughout, which we snapped at their start and then when we passed them off and on.
Thank you again to the organizers and to the officials with the Pro 1/2 Category. We truly appreciate the ability to chase and take pictures and know that the riders are so carefully taken care of.
Enjoy the photos.
