BCCC Dooley Mountain Road Race June 19, 2022

The Dooley Mountain Road Race was 101 miles of rolling hills and hard climbs, skinny roads but all paved and in good shape. This gallery contains both the combined women's race as well as the Men's Pro 1/2. We were able to leapfrog the two categories a few times to get some photos. We beat it up the last hill several miles ahead so that we could be at the finish line, and not follow the two cats up. The race was fairly slow it seems as the field was small and appeared content to not challenge. We may have missed some breaks and such but really only saw one towards the last half when Jeremy Ward went out on his on for a while. After working hard for a while the peloton caught him back and he finished 8th overall, The leaders and top finishers on the stage were Max Ritzow, Blake Harper, Sean HOllenbeck and Owen Wright. Alex Martinek of Georges was 6th. Cassie Nelson was first in Pro 1/2 Women. Ashley Frye won the Women 3.
Team George's own Owen Wright took GC honors with over a minute lead on Ritzow. Alex Martinek and Jeremy Ward were 6 and 7 in GC.
All in all, a great end to the stage race. The organizers are to be commended for the time and effort they gave to put this on. Denise and I thank them for allowing us to be on the road for photos.
