Kuna Road Race April 15, 2023

The Kuna Spring Road race was back for the first time since 2019 and the mess that was in between. Jeremy Ward, John Hughes and John Collier, the three from Team George’s that did not make the team trip to the two road races in California and New Mexico, rode this race and supported the local bike community. There were a number of competitors that showed up to ride, but only 9 in the Cat 1 and 2. The organizers put them in a wave with another 6 from Cat 3 for a slightly larger field, still rather small. 5 minutes after the 9:05 start time, a group of about 34 Cat 4 and 5 men took off. The course was short, 3 loops around the Kuna course for 50 miles total. Brisk at 30 degrees and windy to start.
Right off the bat, Jeremy and John Hughes escaped the field and led the entire race. Lead time extended to over 10 minutes at one point and they came in winning handily, John first and Jeremy right with him. Colliers came in with the pack. Proud of the boys. Proud of the local riders for a good turnout and unbridled enthusiasm for the task at hand today.
